Do-It-Yourself Fenugreek Seed Oil

Preparation time

Ingredients

  • Organic Fenugreek Seed oil (3 Teaspoons)
  • Extra-virgin Olive oil
  • Funnel
  • Mason Jar
  • Applicator bottle
  • Optional: Almond oil, Vitamin E oil, Peppermint oil

Method

1. Scoop a handful of Fenugreek seeds into a mason jar and then add some Olive oil.
Optional: Add Almond oil, Jojoba oil, and Jamaican Black Castor oil into the mason jar.
2. Add a few drops of your preferred essential oil (10 drops of Peppermint oil and /or 20 drops of Vitamin E oil) to the mixture.
3. Stir all the ingredients together thoroughly, then close the glass jar and shake it one more time before letting it sit.
4. Wrap the mason jar in an old clean towel or clothes and then store it in a dark place, preferably in a cupboard away from direct sunlight. Let it marinate for 5 to 7 days.
5. After the desired period, the oil will be ready for use. It should have a nice, rich color with a lovely smell.
6. Decant the oil from the Mason jar into an application bottle using a funnel.

Usage

You can use the Fenugreek oil during your LOC / LCO hair routine, by massaging it into your hair.

You can also add a few drops into your leave-in conditioner or in your deep conditioning mask. Fenugreek oil can also be used as a detangler, or in your hot oil treatment.

Storage

Store the leftover oil in a dark bottle and keep it in the refrigerator. Tip: To store your oil longer, you store it in a dark bottle.

Recommended Challenge

Use it for 6 months to start growing back your edges and also to promote hair growth.

Bonus extra tip

Another way you can get your Fenugreek fix is to drink Fenugreek tea. A hidden benefit is that for postmenopausal women, Fenugreek extract may help to ease some of the discomfort linked to shifting hormone levels.

You can add lemon or ginger for taste.

Side effects

Before use, make sure that you are not allergic to Fenugreek, especially if you suffer from nut allergies. Also, it has been known to lower blood pressure in some instances, so if you suffer from hypoglycemia or diabetes, first check with your doctor before use.
