Honey for Natural Hair

Honey for natural hair is a tried and tested way to introduce moisture into your hair. It is an effective humectant which means that it can draw water molecules out of the air and into your hair shaft, making it a good product to keep your hair hydrated.

This is great when you want to introduce moisture into your hair and is a good addition to any natural head’s deep-conditioning staple for better care of afro-textured hair.

Benefits of Honey for Hair

1. Helps reverse dry, thinning hair
2. Tames frizz, and makes hair soft and moisturized
3. Gives slip and shine
4. Heals an inflamed scalp

Preparation time

10 – 15 minutes

What you need

  • Honey (Raw, organic honey)
  • Virgin Olive oil or carrier oil of your choice
  • Mixing bowl
  • Shower cap
  • Optional: plastic gloves

Instructions

1. Mix 8 tablespoons of honey and 4 tablespoons of Olive oil (or your preferred carrier oil) in a bowl.
2. Place the mixture over a pot of boiling water and stir thoroughly, until properly mixed.
3. Allow the mixture to cool slightly (warm and not cool) and then work it through clean, damp hair section by section.
4. Work your way from the scalp to the ends of your hair, massaging the mixture into your scalp in a circular motion.
5. Place the cap over your head to further seal the nutrients via heat using the baggy method and leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes.
6. You can then rinse off the mixture and follow through with a non-sulphate shampoo and conditioner.

Recommended Usage

Use this treatment at least once a month in your deep conditioning treatment. Molasses for hair growth is a good alternative for hair and has the same moisturizing benefits.
